Man Utd hero Ince: Solskjaer has nobody that excitesby Freddie Taylora month agoSend to a friendShare the loveFormer Manchester United and Liverpool player Paul Ince believes that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer does not have enough exciting players in his squad.Ince, who has often served as a vocal critic of Solskjaer and the club’s management structure, believes the team does not have a squad good enough to challenge at the top end.United are struggling at the start of the season, losing their most recent Premier League game to West Ham United.”I said last year – and got ridiculed for it – that Ole shouldn’t have got the Manchester United job at the stage he did. I stand totally by that comment,” Ince told Paddy Power.”Everyone got sucked into the start he’d made, without looking at the fixtures they had. It’s a result-based business, and that’s fine, but you can’t ignore performances.”Now, though, having decided he’s the man, giving him a long-term project and buying into his vision, they have to stick with him.”Irrespective of whether they win or lose at the weekend, he’s their man. There are no two ways about it, they’ve made their bed, and right now they’re lying in it.”They can’t be sacking their manager and abandoning the strategy, based on a few results. United will win games, people will get excited again, then they’ll lose and it’ll be back to crisis mode.”They’re the biggest team in the world, they’ll be on the back pages no matter what. That’s what comes with being a Manchester United player or manager.”But they no longer have that presence in terms of intimidating opponents. Teams know they can get something from them now, even at Old Trafford. Right now, United are vulnerable.”Chelsea already have a clearer vision. I think of Ole in the same way as I do Frank Lampard. Two young managers lacking experience, who have been thrown into two massive clubs.”But, if you gave me the choice of who I’d rather be watching this season, it’d be Chelsea all day long – and that hurts me as a former United captain.”Can anybody tell me what United are trying to do? YouTube/UNCTarHeelsTVThere are few things better in sports than beating your rival. UNC lost a heartbreaker at home to Duke earlier this season, but paid them back on Saturday night with a massive win at Cameron Indoor Stadium to lock up the ACC regular season championship. After the game, the team was absolutely exuberant in the locker room. Late last night, UNC posted an awesome video of the celebration. UNC is the No. 1 seed in next week’s ACC Tournament, and is a favorite to claim one of the top seeds in the NCAA Tournament. It is definitely a good time for the Tar Heels.

He’s not the coach Fox Sports’ Joel Klatt would hire, though.Joel Klatt, a college football analyst for Fox Sports, appeared on Colin Cowherd’s The Herd this afternoon. During his appearance, he said he’d hire another current Ohio State assistant over Houston’s Tom Herman.“I’d take (Ohio State defensive coordinator) Greg Schiano over Tom Herman,” Klatt said. “I’d take him over (Notre Dame head coach) Brian Kelly.”Klatt expounded on his reasoning, saying Schiano’s success at Rutgers makes him more of an intriguing candidate than Herman, who’s had success at Houston but not for very long. “He’s had success for like 32 seconds,” Klatt joked. And as far as Schiano > Kelly goes, Klatt said he doesn’t like how the Fighting Irish head coach treats his players. “Brian Kelly blames his players,” Klatt said. “I’m a players guy.” Kelly is believed to be somewhat on the hot seat after Notre Dame’s brutal start.Schiano, 50, went a very respectable 68-67 during his time as Rutgers’ head coach. He’s certainly a decent head coach candidate this offseason. And if Urban Meyer’s history means anything, he’ll probably go on to be very successful in his next gig.But if you’re, say, Texas, would you even consider hiring Schiano over Herman? Highly doubtful.
Megan Rapinoe has had a summer to remember. She has won a World Cup, along with the Golden Ball and the Golden Boot for the competition, locking in her legacy as one of the all-time greats of women’s soccer. There have also been memorable moments off the field, most notably her claiming she wasn’t “going to the f**king White House” and an angry response from U.S. President Donald Trump, in which he criticized her for being disrespectful to the flag and the country. Article continues below Editors’ Picks ‘Everyone legged it on to the pitch!’ – How Foden went from Man City superfan to future superstar Emery out of jail – for now – as brilliant Pepe papers over Arsenal’s cracks What is Manchester United’s ownership situation and how would Kevin Glazer’s sale of shares affect the club? Ox-rated! Dream night in Genk for Liverpool ace after injury nightmare Trump also implored her to win before talking. Rapinoe has done that now, and despite the harsh words from one of the world’s leaders, thinks the spat with the ever-aggressive Trump will be a good thing in the long run. “Honesty, I see it as a positive thing,” she said in an appearance on ESPN alongside team-mate Alex Morgan. “I think when it was happening we did keep a really tight bubble and the whole group was so supportive of me, but it did feel positive in a way. “Obviously, I think the tweets were negative in tone as he usually does, but I think we just even more so realized in that moment we’re so much more than what we are on the field. And I think this team really understands and is so prideful that we do carry with us other people when we step out on the pitch. “It’s the game of course and we want to win, but knowing the impact that we have already had and knowing the impact that we were going to have when we came home, the motivation of just that alone is incredible. I really feel like we do this for our group, for ourselves, for our team, for our staff, for our friends and family and for everyone. I think we always want to try to bring more people into the conversation. We want to have the conversation, we want to open it up to everyone. “I think obviously we are very lucky to wear the shirt and represent America in a way that no team really does. We’re very lucky to play all types of games all year long and I think we do an incredible job of representing every American.” It’s also clear that Rapinoe will continue to push for social justice. Following the USWNT’s win on Sunday, she called for changes from FIFA and U.S. Soccer in the pay structure of soccer, where women at the highest level are paid far less than their male counterparts. “Everyone’s asking what’s next and what we want to come all of this – it’s to stop having the conversation about equal pay and are we worth it,” Rapinoe said immediately following the match, before calling on both FIFA president Gianni Infantino and U.S. Soccer president Carlos Cordeiro to step up and address the issue. “What are we going to do about it? Gianni, what are we going to do about it? Carlos, what are we going to do about it? Everyone. It’s time to sit down with everyone and really get to work.” She was no less adamant in Tuesday’s interview, claiming that her and the rest of the USWNT want to be at the forefront of positive change. “We want to change the world,” she said. “We want to change the way that people look at us, that people look at young girls, that people look at young boys. We want to change the game forever.”
