The Governor wishes everyone a very happy Christmas admitting in the message distributed to media and posted at his Facebook page that it has been another eventful year. H.E. was counting blessings, saying the country escaped the worst of the storm season and that the TCI has been untroubled by some of the terror attacks around the world. The Governor reminded that Waterloo marked 200 Years in 2015 and he called it, “an outstanding example in the region of TCI’s history.’ A ‘plus’ cited by the Governor is the work to strengthen the economy, tourism and the country’s international standing. He said, and I quote: “Tourism continues to increase by leaps and bounds and 2015 saw TCI crowned by Trip Advisor as the world’s No.1 island destination. We are now the envy of many of our Caribbean neighbours with a growing air lift across the United States and Canada, with Fort Lauderdale and Chicago being two of the newest cities with direct flights. I’m sure many of us will benefit from the competitive air fares that these new routes bring. We should also not forget the valuable service provided domestically, and internationally, by our two domestic airlines.” Also in the list of blessings this year from the Governor was acknowledgement of the bronze medal performance by Delano Williams as a part of Team Great Britain at the IAAF World Games in China; Williams was called “magnificent.” Delano is poised to compete in the 4x400m at the Summer Olympic Games in Brazil. Jill Beckingham also garnered kudos; her husband the Governor hailing Footsteps4Good as a benefit along with other NGOs which received commendation for work this year. There was a warning for the Turks and Caicos to protect its environmental reputation saying, “the thousands of tourists who come here expect to see pristine beaches and clean surroundings.” In the close, the Governor challenged residents to exhibit the Christmas message of sacrifice and giving and noted that he was interested to hear politicians, as he put it, “extolling the virtues of graciousness, peace and good will at the lovely Christmas tree lighting in Grand Turk this month’… the Governor also said, he hopes “that they, and all of us in Turks and Caicos, will remember those virtues – shown to us above all in the life of Jesus – throughout 2016.” DR wants consulate office in TCI Facebook Twitter Google+LinkedInPinterestWhatsApp More motor mishaps; PDM Leader calls for Govt attention to illegal jitneys, againlast_img read more

Fortnite Overtime challenges Your last chance to get a free Battle Pass

first_img Share your voice Now playing: Watch this: Tags Video Games Originally published Feb. 14.Update, Feb. 28: Added Season 8 details. Comments 2:42 Epic Games There is only a short time left to catch up on season 7 challenges (read our guide) in Fortnite: Battle Royale. Season 8 starts Feb. 28 at 1 a.m. PT (4 a.m. ET), but you still have time to complete Overtime challenges to get your free Battle Pass. There are 16 Overtime challenges and you need to complete 13 to get the free Battle Pass. Since the season 8 Battle Pass would cost you roughly $10, that’s like getting free money just for playing Fortnite — not a bad deal if you ask me. But you only have a short time left.Find the final four challenges at the bottom of this post.overtimechallenges Jason Parker/CNET Collect coins in featured creative islandsFor this one you’ll have to enter Creative Mode and simply launch any of the featured islands from the Creative Hub, then search for coins. Deal damage to opponents with assault rifles or pistolsThis is about as standard as it gets for challenges. Note that you have to get 500 damage though, so it may take a few games to complete.Search chests or ammo boxes at a motel or RV parkI made a map for where these two locations are so you can get to them quickly, but I have this weird feeling. I could be wrong (probably am), but I’m thinking Epic Games is sending us to these locations because they might be going away in season 8. The RV park has been around since the beginning so I could see the company deciding to add something new and different. The Motel is a little newer, but you have to admit it’s not a very exciting place to drop. We’ll find out if I’m right in a couple weeks, but here’s where they’re located:motelrvparkIs Epic just sending us to say goodbye? Jason Parker/CNET Place top 15 in duos with a friendHas there been a team-based challenge before that wasn’t a generic daily challenge? I can’t remember. This should be pretty easy provided you make an effort with a friend (and maybe don’t drop into Tilted Towers this time). Even if you autofill to get your partner, if you play it a little safe, you should get top 15 without much trouble.Regain health from a campfire in different matchesThis challenge will obviously rely on whether you can find a campfire in the first place. It’s also important to note that it’s not enough to just place the campfire; it actually has to heal you (so you can’t just do this at full health). I would suggest getting into a large team match for this one because it looks like you’ll get credit regardless of who places the campfire. Don’t forget that only one per match will count toward the challenge, but you’ll need three total to complete it.fortniteovertimesaturdayHere are the three challenges added on Saturday. Jason Parker/CNET Visit different named locationsHere’s a challenge we’ve seen many times before, but note that you have to visit 10 different locations. You can get more than one per match and if you plan it well by landing in a coastal location, you can work your way inwards to pass through several as the storm closes in. The next game, just land in a different coastal area and do the same thing. Search a supply drop in different matchesThough supply drops can be dangerous, note that you only have to get two of them in different matches to complete the challenge. Just be aware that a lot of people will be doing the same thing, so you might wait a couple days to make it a little more safe.Revive a player in different matchesYour best bet here is to play any large team mode because you’ll inevitably have tons of chances to revive people. It shouldn’t be too hard to get the required three revives, but just remember that only the first one counts per match.overtimetuesdayHere are the challenges that went live on Tuesday, Feb. 19. Jason Parker/CNET Visit different waterfallsThis is a fun quest we haven’t seen before, but as long as you know where to go, it shouldn’t take too long. Here are all the waterfalls on the map:fortniteovertimewaterfalls Jason Parker/CNET Deal damage to opponents with shotguns or SMGsThis is another common challenge we’ve seen many times and I wouldn’t worry about it too much. Most people use either a shotgun or SMG whenever they get into a up close firefight. You’ll probably complete this one without trying, but note you have to get 500 damage to fulfill the requirement.Search chests or ammo boxes at The BlockThis one will be fun, but there are going to be a lot of people there starting on Tuesday. If you wait a couple days, you’ll probably have better luck, but it is pretty much going to be a free-for-all.Place top 10 in squads with a friendIt’s time to get the old team back together or take your chances with random squad-mates. Even if everyone doesn’t make it all the way, there’s no shame in hiding out to get into the top 10. Just be careful and it shouldn’t take too many tries to get this one done.overtimechallengeslast4Here are the last four challenges revealed on Friday, Feb 22. Jason Parker/CNET Play matches of Driftin’ with a friendThere’s not much to this one beyond playing the new limited time mode with a buddy. Just look for a red balloon supply drop, grab a board and go. You’ll need to complete three matches to get credit.Thank the bus driver in different matchesI think at this point, thanking the bus driver is second nature to most players, but you just hit down on the directional pad on consoles or touch the emote button in the upper right on mobile. You’ll get credit once you’ve done it seven times in different matches.Search chests or ammo boxes at a racetrack or a dance clubThis is a pretty standard quest that shouldn’t take you too long if you know where to go. The racetrack is in the northern part of the desert area and the dance club is in a large building northwest of Lucky Landing in the snowy area. Wherever you choose, you’ll need to gather seven chests or ammo boxes, so you could probably take it out in a couple of matches if you focus on it. Just be aware that a lot of other people will be doing the same thing. Here’s a map where the two locations are:fortnitemapracetrackdanceclub Jason Parker/CNET Outlast 75 opponents in a single matchThis last challenge should be pretty easy, provided you stay safe. I would advise against landing at Tilted Towers (like I always do) or Paradise Palms because so many people usually land there. Just find an out of the way spot, gear up and avoid battles for your best chance to stay alive as long as possible. Obviously, if you’re great at Fortnite, this challenge won’t be a problem at all, but this advice is for those who have trouble getting to the end game. If you watch your back, you should have no trouble getting in the top 25.  3 How is Apex Legends different from Fortnite and PUBG? Fortnitelast_img read more

Podcast When PowerPoints Werent Working This Lowes Exec Passed Out Comic Books

first_img Free Webinar | Sept 5: Tips and Tools for Making Progress Toward Important Goals 4 min read Register Now » Attend this free webinar and learn how you can maximize efficiency while getting the most critical things done right.center_img September 28, 2017 How Success Happens is a podcast featuring polar explorers, authors, ultra marathoners, artists and more to better understand what connects dreaming and doing. Linda Lacina, Entrepreneur.com’s managing editor, guides these chats so anyone can understand the traits that underpin achievement and what fuels the decisions to push us forward. Listen below. When you think of who might be putting a 3-D printer in space, you’re likely not thinking Lowe’s. But the home-improvement retailer has done this and more, integrating other new technologies into its stores such as exosuits (to help staff stocking shelves maintain energy) and holorooms (to help homeowners visualize new home improvement projects).Helping make all this possible is Kyle Nel, the chief innovation officer at Lowe’s Innovation Labs. Nel isn’t your typical tech guy but a behavioral scientist who puts his understanding of how people act to help make change. In his observations he’s learned that most problems companies face aren’t technical but rooted in how different types of people and groups work together and make decisions. “These issues are all behavior issues,” he says.Related: Conversation is the Most Underused Innovation ToolTo leverage what he understands about behavior, Nel creates systems, ones that can be applied at any organization, to help push forth unexpected innovations. At their heart, these processes address how decision-making happens (or doesn’t), align needs and construct a narrative that connects everyone to the big picture.“If you see the primary issue to getting anything accomplished is people, then you put the vast majority of your effort into getting people moving,” says Nel.One method Nel uses is “science-fiction prototyping.” He hires science-fiction writers and illustrators, arms them with market research and trend data, and creates comic books for executives about potential ways tech and people will come together in the years to come. These books help company leaders fully understand the impact of a new business shift in a way that typical PowerPoint presentations can’t. With the buy-in these stories bring, the initiatives are more likely to move forward.“We debate and talk about the story and not the capabilities we’d need to make those stories a reality.”Focusing on the story shifts the conversation from how the tech will be built to the opportunity at hand. For Lowe’s, the initial comics led to discussions about incorporating augmented and mixed reality long before the Oculus Rift gave those technologies wider visibility. The story strategy also ensures that planning is based on principles and doesn’t get lost in risk management, culture problems or technical jargon. “By the time we get to the execs, we’re talking about the ideas, not some awkward phraseology,” says Nel.Related: Kathryn Minshew of The Muse: Decide Who You Are, or Have it Decided for You (Podcast)Ultimately, his methods help demystify futuristic change, identify gaps and produce the movement organizations want but can’t always achieve.“If Lowe’s can build autonomous robots or put a 3-D printer on the International Space Station, it opens up the gates for every organization to do big bold things” says Nel.This effort becomes even more vital as the role of private companies shift. “From a personal level, that’s where I see all the big awesome changes we need on this planet,” says Nel. “Traditional companies and organizations are going to have to take the lead on that.”To learn more about Nel’s methods and the importance of behavior in any organization, listen to this week’s podcast. Listen to the podcast below or subscribe on SoundCloud, Stitcher or iTunes. last_img read more
