International sports personalities join hands for Bengaluru Sports Festival

first_imgBengaluru’s first-ever ‘Sports Festival’, which aims to inculcate sports as a culture and make it inclusive to the lifestyle of the city – Bengaluru Sports Festival (BSF) – is taking shape under the aegis of Sports Excellence Trust. This unique festival is the idea of some of the brightest brains of Bengaluru simply for their love for sports. Prakash Padukone, former Indian badminton player; Rahul Dravid, former Indian cricketer, Vidya Laxman, marathoner; Reeth Abraham, renowned athlete; Nandan Kamath, Go Sports, V Ravichandar, urbanist and Anand Adkoli, entrepreneur, have joined hands to curate this sports extravaganza. The first edition of the sports festival will be hosted at the Padukone-Dravid Centre for Sports Excellence on December 8-9, 2018. “It is widely known and accepted fact that India is a “sports-loving nation” and not yet a “sports playing nation”. We haven’t fully reaped the demographic dividend in sports as a nation. BSF has been envisioned to inculcate sports as a culture for every Indian family and make it inclusive to our lifestyle,” said Vimal Kumar, President, Sports Excellence Trust, and former international badminton player.According to Shyamsundar Pani, Director, Bengaluru Sports Festival, there isn’t any platform where parents and their children can enjoy sports end-to-end in one single venue in India’s IT hub. “All work, No play”, has become the norm for all. BSF aims to develop, cultivate and nurture sports culture in India with the end objective of ensuring that sports become a part of our routine,” he added. The sports event in which Karnataka government is expected to participate to promote ‘Brand Bengaluru’, aims to celebrate sports culture for the city by encouraging residents to take part in several sports, interactive, health and fitness initiatives. It is open for all age groups and will witness the participation of over 20,000 sports enthusiasts. Nearly 100 international and national sports personalities and city celebrities are expected to join the festival.advertisementThe two-day carnival will host workshops emphasising the growing impact of sports in one’s life, the benefits of sports in our society and how people are coming forward to pursue sports as a career choice. Highlighting the importance of proper exercise and maintaining a good diet, the carnival will have food and nutrition workshop by fitness experts. The workshop will also aim on the peer engagement programs, where the participants will interact with people from different backgrounds and interests.last_img read more

Fortnite Overtime challenges Your last chance to get a free Battle Pass

first_img Share your voice Now playing: Watch this: Tags Video Games Originally published Feb. 14.Update, Feb. 28: Added Season 8 details. Comments 2:42 Epic Games There is only a short time left to catch up on season 7 challenges (read our guide) in Fortnite: Battle Royale. Season 8 starts Feb. 28 at 1 a.m. PT (4 a.m. ET), but you still have time to complete Overtime challenges to get your free Battle Pass. There are 16 Overtime challenges and you need to complete 13 to get the free Battle Pass. Since the season 8 Battle Pass would cost you roughly $10, that’s like getting free money just for playing Fortnite — not a bad deal if you ask me. But you only have a short time left.Find the final four challenges at the bottom of this post.overtimechallenges Jason Parker/CNET Collect coins in featured creative islandsFor this one you’ll have to enter Creative Mode and simply launch any of the featured islands from the Creative Hub, then search for coins. Deal damage to opponents with assault rifles or pistolsThis is about as standard as it gets for challenges. Note that you have to get 500 damage though, so it may take a few games to complete.Search chests or ammo boxes at a motel or RV parkI made a map for where these two locations are so you can get to them quickly, but I have this weird feeling. I could be wrong (probably am), but I’m thinking Epic Games is sending us to these locations because they might be going away in season 8. The RV park has been around since the beginning so I could see the company deciding to add something new and different. The Motel is a little newer, but you have to admit it’s not a very exciting place to drop. We’ll find out if I’m right in a couple weeks, but here’s where they’re located:motelrvparkIs Epic just sending us to say goodbye? Jason Parker/CNET Place top 15 in duos with a friendHas there been a team-based challenge before that wasn’t a generic daily challenge? I can’t remember. This should be pretty easy provided you make an effort with a friend (and maybe don’t drop into Tilted Towers this time). Even if you autofill to get your partner, if you play it a little safe, you should get top 15 without much trouble.Regain health from a campfire in different matchesThis challenge will obviously rely on whether you can find a campfire in the first place. It’s also important to note that it’s not enough to just place the campfire; it actually has to heal you (so you can’t just do this at full health). I would suggest getting into a large team match for this one because it looks like you’ll get credit regardless of who places the campfire. Don’t forget that only one per match will count toward the challenge, but you’ll need three total to complete it.fortniteovertimesaturdayHere are the three challenges added on Saturday. Jason Parker/CNET Visit different named locationsHere’s a challenge we’ve seen many times before, but note that you have to visit 10 different locations. You can get more than one per match and if you plan it well by landing in a coastal location, you can work your way inwards to pass through several as the storm closes in. The next game, just land in a different coastal area and do the same thing. Search a supply drop in different matchesThough supply drops can be dangerous, note that you only have to get two of them in different matches to complete the challenge. Just be aware that a lot of people will be doing the same thing, so you might wait a couple days to make it a little more safe.Revive a player in different matchesYour best bet here is to play any large team mode because you’ll inevitably have tons of chances to revive people. It shouldn’t be too hard to get the required three revives, but just remember that only the first one counts per match.overtimetuesdayHere are the challenges that went live on Tuesday, Feb. 19. Jason Parker/CNET Visit different waterfallsThis is a fun quest we haven’t seen before, but as long as you know where to go, it shouldn’t take too long. Here are all the waterfalls on the map:fortniteovertimewaterfalls Jason Parker/CNET Deal damage to opponents with shotguns or SMGsThis is another common challenge we’ve seen many times and I wouldn’t worry about it too much. Most people use either a shotgun or SMG whenever they get into a up close firefight. You’ll probably complete this one without trying, but note you have to get 500 damage to fulfill the requirement.Search chests or ammo boxes at The BlockThis one will be fun, but there are going to be a lot of people there starting on Tuesday. If you wait a couple days, you’ll probably have better luck, but it is pretty much going to be a free-for-all.Place top 10 in squads with a friendIt’s time to get the old team back together or take your chances with random squad-mates. Even if everyone doesn’t make it all the way, there’s no shame in hiding out to get into the top 10. Just be careful and it shouldn’t take too many tries to get this one done.overtimechallengeslast4Here are the last four challenges revealed on Friday, Feb 22. Jason Parker/CNET Play matches of Driftin’ with a friendThere’s not much to this one beyond playing the new limited time mode with a buddy. Just look for a red balloon supply drop, grab a board and go. You’ll need to complete three matches to get credit.Thank the bus driver in different matchesI think at this point, thanking the bus driver is second nature to most players, but you just hit down on the directional pad on consoles or touch the emote button in the upper right on mobile. You’ll get credit once you’ve done it seven times in different matches.Search chests or ammo boxes at a racetrack or a dance clubThis is a pretty standard quest that shouldn’t take you too long if you know where to go. The racetrack is in the northern part of the desert area and the dance club is in a large building northwest of Lucky Landing in the snowy area. Wherever you choose, you’ll need to gather seven chests or ammo boxes, so you could probably take it out in a couple of matches if you focus on it. Just be aware that a lot of other people will be doing the same thing. Here’s a map where the two locations are:fortnitemapracetrackdanceclub Jason Parker/CNET Outlast 75 opponents in a single matchThis last challenge should be pretty easy, provided you stay safe. I would advise against landing at Tilted Towers (like I always do) or Paradise Palms because so many people usually land there. Just find an out of the way spot, gear up and avoid battles for your best chance to stay alive as long as possible. Obviously, if you’re great at Fortnite, this challenge won’t be a problem at all, but this advice is for those who have trouble getting to the end game. If you watch your back, you should have no trouble getting in the top 25.  3 How is Apex Legends different from Fortnite and PUBG? Fortnitelast_img read more
