first_imgDear Editor:In a world that often seems as though it is falling apart there are STILL plenty of good people in it! During my weekly visit to WalMart for supplies I seemed to have left my purse (MY ENTIRE WORLD) in my shopping cart. Arriving home in what had always been very routine I realized that my purse was not with me. Today was a bit different than usual as I had a companion with me. The moment I realized what had happened I instructed my companion to take the groceries in and I flew off in a fit of panic back to WalMart. I knew how panicked I was becoming every moment as I considered the consequences of this and had to calm myself as to remain within the speed limit and not run any lights or stop signs all the while praying for a good Samaritan. Upon my arrival at WalMart there was no sign of the purse and after a thorough discussion with the employees I realized that it would not be found. I called my companion immediately and asked him to begin calling my credit card companies from my receipt box alerting him that I was on my way back. Moments later I answered a call from him and the feeling of relief hit me before he could even finish telling me it was there. I was driving so I hung up the phone.When I arrived home it was there and I thought he had found it amongst the bags of groceries. After a moment to calm down, the story played out… Moments after my call to him saying it was not at WalMart, as he took out the box of receipts preparing to get a head start on the obligatory phone calls the doorbell rang. Thinking it was me arriving home he said “it’s open”…when there was no response he said it again much louder. When no one entered he opened the door to find a woman with her car double parked on the street with her arms outstretched holding the purse. She said that she saw us leave but that her cart was full of groceries. She retrieved the purse, rummaged through to find the Drivers License and entered the address into the GPS on her phone.No sooner had I left than she arrived then left and I arrived. I wish that there had been time for my companion or I to have gotten her name or information. This act of selflessness was nothing short of miraculous and I would so like to thank this person for what she did and look into the face of such an honest person. If you are reading this, please know how tremendously thankful I am for you and how comforting it is knowing that there are still people like you in our community and our world!
