Photo) Top News Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Thursday said that his government was constantly trying to get all the pending issues of the state resolved from the NDA government at centre Speaking on the sidelines of his Sangat Darshan programme in Adampur assembly segment here he squarely held the successive Congress governments at Centre responsible for meting out “grave injustice” to the state Badal alleged the Congress party had deprived the state of its capital Punjabi speaking areas and legitimate share of river waters He claimed that it was on record that ever since re-organisation of states took place Punjab was the only parent state which had been denied a capital “Even after making a promise to hand over capital to Punjab the Congress government had backtracked from it and deprived Punjab of Chandigarh” he added However the Chief Minister said that as a true custodian of rights of Punjabis the SAD-BJP alliance government was constantly trying to get all these issues resolved He said that they had flagged up these issues time and again with Union government and hoped that the NDA government would undo the grave injustice done to the state Badal said that Congress had made these issues so complicated that no time frame could be fixed for their resolution but the state government was duty-bound to get all these issues resolved at the earliest He alleged that the Congress had conspired to rob the state of its water by planning and executing the digging of Sutlej Yamuna Link (SYL) canal Slamming the Congress leaders for “misleading” the people on SYL canal issue he said that his government had never supported the construction of the canal Badal said that throughout his life he had struggled hard to safeguard the interests of the state and its people He said the announcement of Congress leaders to resign if any judgement against the interests of state on SYL was given by the apex court was nothing more than a political gimmick “Only three months are left for term of this assembly to expire so Congress leaders just want to mislead the people by indulging in such tantrums” he added On resignation by Delhi Minister in wake of release of CD he said that this incident had exposed the real face of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) which claims to be a party with high moral value and character Badal alleged that AAP leadership was bereft of any ideological commitment and morality “They just make tall statements and hollow promises to mislead the people but in reality they were lacking character” he said He alleged the AAP government’s failure on all fronts in Delhi was a testimony to the fact that the party just attained power by showing greener pastures to people and dumped them after coming to power He claimed the people of the state would not fall prey to the gimmicks of such leaders and would teach them a lesson in the upcoming polls For all the latest India News download Indian Express App More Top NewsBy: Express News getting himself promoted “Shamelessness abounds The news of promotion of a man who stands booked on charges of sexual harassment at workplace stalking and criminal intimidation… makes my flesh crawl” the victim wrote in her letter The victim who had resigned from TERI last year said many of her friends and colleagues still working with the organisation had been asked to persuade her to withdraw her complaint against Pachauri “Not a day passed without a message showing up on my mobile warning me or bringing forth concerns” she wrote claiming friends told her that their computer at office was support to the victim “For someone in my position who has had zero support from the organisation when made privy to such developments was most disturbing What in the world was I to expect and why would I risk more than what is already lost Not just the governing council but others in TERI have shown where their conscience (if any) leans” the victim said She also described the situation which forced her to quit TERI “I spoke up and was quarantined from work… not allowed to resume work and no earnings for a long time No money and a tainted curriculum vitae gave me sleepless nights It was Facebook that currently has 15 billion monthly active users The team from Freie Universitt Berlin and the Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences in Germany focused on the medial prefrontal cortex and the precuneus – two brain regions that are recruited when thinking about oneself Results showed that participants who share more about themselves on Facebook had greater connectivity of both the medial prefrontal cortex and precuneus “Human beings like to share information about themselves In today’s world one way we are able to share self-related information is by using social media platforms like Facebook” said Dr Dar Meshi lead author and a postdoctoral researcher in a paper featured in the journal Scientific Reports In the first attempt to examine the intrinsic functional connectivity of the brain in relation to social media use Dr Meshi and colleagues observed connectivity between regions of the brain previously established to play a role in self-cognition in 35 participants Facebook was used in the study because people post information about their thoughts feelings and opinions as well as pictures and videos of themselves All subjects completed a “Self-Related Sharing Scale” to determine how frequently each subject posted pictures of themselves updated their profile information and updated their status Researchers recorded functional neuroimaging (fMRI) data while subjects were allowed to let their mind wander They then analysed the connectivity of each participant’s brain to determine a relationship between brain connectivity and “Self-Related Sharing Scale” score across participants “Our study reveals a network of brain regions involved in the sharing of self-related information on social media” Meshi added The authors point out that the implications of their research are broad and lay the foundation for future scientific investigation into self-disclosure For all the latest Lifestyle News download Earthquake and tsunami shatter Japan’s exports

first_img THE HORRIFIC earthquake and tsunami in Japan last month knocked the country’s exports more than expected, official data revealed yesterday.Disruptions to supply chains saw exports drop 2.2 per cent from a year earlier, a heavier fall than the 1.1 per cent to 1.5 per cent decline anticipated by many economists. It was also the first decline in exports for 16 months. The decline reduced Japan’s trade surplus, which came in at 196.5bn yen (£1.45bn) – its lowest level in two years.“The seasonally-adjusted fall was much starker,” said David Rea of Capital Economics. “Export trade values plummeted 7.7 per cent month on month, the steepest drop since the global financial crisis caused three double-digit month on month declines in a row.”Shipments to China rose an annual 3.8 per cent while shipments to the US fell 3.4 per cent.“The pace of fall in exports will likely accelerate in April as automakers’ production lines have not returned to normal,” said Yoshimasa Maruyama, economist at the Itochu Economic Research Institute in Tokyo.“On the other hand, imports will probably stay at a higher level in coming months as energy imports increase in both volume terms and value due to price increases. Imports of goods needed for production and reconstruction are also seen rising,” Maruyama added. whatsapp whatsapp More From Our Partners Astounding Fossil Discovery in California After Man Looks Closelygoodnewsnetwork.orgKansas coach fired for using N-word toward Black playerthegrio.comPolice Capture Elusive Tiger Poacher After 20 Years of Pursuing the Huntergoodnewsnetwork.orgPorsha Williams engaged to ex-husband of ‘RHOA’ co-star Falynn Guobadiathegrio.comNative American Tribe Gets Back Sacred Island Taken 160 Years Agogoodnewsnetwork.orgFans call out hypocrisy as Tebow returns to NFL while Kaepernick is still outthegrio.comBrave 7-Year-old Boy Swims an Hour to Rescue His Dad and Little Sistergoodnewsnetwork.orgColin Kaepernick to publish book on abolishing the policethegrio.comRussell Wilson, AOC among many voicing support for Naomi KCS-content Earthquake and tsunami shatter Japan’s exports Tags: NULL Show Comments ▼ Wednesday 20 April 2011 8:06 pm Sharelast_img
